Sorry for the double post...not sure how that happened.

Lynn & Brent,

I relish the idea of a decent statesman (my favorite euphemism for politician). Unfortunately, it seems few of our representatives can actually make a decision without “leaking” it to the press as a way to feel out any negative response. Heaven forbid a segment of the population would disagree with a politician and lessen his chance of achieving his own personal political agenda. I think this non-binding resolution to block the troop surge is one of those instances. It’s non-binding for goodness sake, so debate it already and be done with it. Oh, wait, wait, you mean if I do not support this resolution it could make or break my political career?...well, then let’s stall this measure as long as we can. Unfortunately, our troops do not have that option and are dying in the crossfire (pardon the pun.)

I remember when we had knowledgeable leaders who made decisions based on the good of the people. When you leave out the will of the people, we venture down the slippery slope in to fascism. I am not saying, by any means, that our nation is fascist, but if we do not make some changes I fear what our nation could become, especially since we seem to be a corporatist nation. (I love how the conservative news media love to blame the so called “liberal” news media for all of the nations fo-paws (sp?) when in reality the news media is about as liberal as the Republican businessmen that own it.) Corporatism at it’s finest.

Not to rant on about politics… I just do not trust the news media’s accuracy in reporting. Real, factual, accurate news has been replaced by political punditry and it is quite disturbing.

Political satirist's like John Stewart and Stephen Colbert kind of lessen the "sting" so to speak. I would credit a certian ominous comma creator for that same ability.

Brent, it would definitely add value for the readers. Plus, now my interest is peaked. As soon as my sister and her new husband return from their honeymoon, I plan to introduce the ominous comma. They are both writers and would be very interested in the workings of the subconscious.

We were “warned” after all, in the beginning to expect the unexpected…right? The sky is the limit. Just make sure you follow the serious post with a humorous one…(ominous comma readers) withdrawal is an ugly site and there is no rehab center for it.
