I know that I am posting ahead of schedule, but events are in motion that simply cannot wait until Monday.
Camille, the Hot Comma Momma, the joy of my heart, the mother of my offspring, is gone.
At this very moment, she is in Central America, fighting terrorism, teaching advanced asbestos handling,1 or possibly studying Spanish.
Perhaps all three, you can never tell with her.
Her departure, besides leaving me with the Three Children of the Apocalypse, has created a real challenge in trying to celebrate our eighteenth wedding anniversary.
Back in the day
Now, I will be the first to admit that not all of the first seventeen were always wonderful. We had various obstacles and impediments to overcome in commemorating our wedded bliss, but as I recall, up until this point we have both managed to at least be present for the festivities.2
So today it is my privilege to present a very public and quite international celebration of anniversary love to my absent darling. All comments and well-wishes will be addressed to Camille, Mistress of All Things Comma, in a brave attempt to overcome this transnational hurdle that has come between us.
In the Glorious Present
Everyone is invited, no gifts are necessary. No need to RSVP.
Comment boxes are standing by.
Happy Anniversary, Beautiful.
Happy Sunday everyone.

Camille, Mistress of All Things Comma,
Eighteen years with this guy, huh? Either you have the patients of a saint or you must feel that it is just easier than trying to get rid of him. Or it could be that you both still have the same look in your eyes “in the glorious present” that you did “back in the day”.(ain’t love grand) Eighteen years is a mighty feat in this day and age, keep it up! Before you know it it will be thirty six…..
[bowing most humbly to Camille, Mistress of all Things Comma]
Most honorable Mistress,
CONGRATULATIONS!
While I wouldn’t say you have ‘arrived’, I can attest to the fact that you have done more than survive. This milestone is a testimony of your fortitude and faith.
I can’t think of a better match of wits for the OC Stud-author.
May your example fly in the face of the contemporary self-serving attitudes of our culture. May you forever have that same look in your eyes as “back in the day”. (Have I really known you THAT long?!)
May God continue to draw you two into deeper ‘oneness’ with Him that defies even your understanding.
I’m honored to know you and to learn from your wedded wisdom. ;-)
LOVE YOU GUYS!
Dear Mistress of all things Comma, period.questionmark?
Congratulations! Isn’t it wonderful being together through life’s seasons? Because of two pesky annual events, Fast Forward and Visiting Angels Conference, our anniversary NEVER gets properly celebrated. We’re not even together on THE DAY. But this year, all that doesn’t matter. We’re taking two weeks off, going to Italy, and making up for all those misses! So there’s hope for future anniversaries. Besides, you’re in Costa Rica!!! Do you even remember that guy you married?
No, seriously, you two have a beautiful marriage that’s encouraging to all us married’s. Love you!
Mrs. Camille, I mean comma momma. I hope all is well in wonderful Costa Rica, “rich coast” that is. I hope you come back rich, or at least enriched in your Spanish skills and in God. I can only express that Mr. Comma is missing you deeply and looks forward to the return of his beautiful bride.
If you get a chance, shoot us all an email update on how things are. We will be waiting for you to plan another Visible Reunion once you return (just kidding).
Much love.
Soon-to-be-father
Hey! Just discovered your blog. Too funny! I’ll be adding it to my reader right… NOW! Keep it up!
Oh Mistress and Muse of Commakingdom…congratulations! How wonderful that you, oh lady of inspiration, can celebrate such marital accomplishments! Your name is spoken in quietly reverent tones. Can you hear the monks singing Commagorian chants of thanksgiving and congratulations?
Happy Anniversary dear friends!
Camille Mistress of All Things Comma, you and Brent have been a great blessing to me. Congratulations on making it another year. Enjoy the rest of your time learning Spanish, and we will see you in a few weeks.
Camille, Mistress of All Things Comma & Brent, Master of All Things Comma,
A marriage is a series of friendships. Love serves as its underlying theme. Friendships provide it with the new challenges around which the relationship further develops. Each type of friendship, with ones spouse, comes into being, rises to a peak of enthusiasm, and then wanes away in our cedar chest of sentimental values. Every once in a while we go to the chest and draw out a friendship item to give us a shot in the arm. Then we put it away till another day.
Thanks for sharing your special day with us.
It gives me hope.
happy anniversary from all of us to you, don’t get stuck in costa rica or eat monkey poo.
thanks for sharing all your marital (and martial) advice with us and for supporting us when we were just beginning our journey into marriage.
so glad we know you!
can you bring me back a pet from costa rica?
Congratulations, to you both.
And have a wonderful time in Costa Rica, Mrs. Comma. Of course, I personally prefer to holiday at Costa Lott, it is far more exclusive.
I am most grateful for all your well wishes. It is great to hear from all of you. As you know I am currently in Costa Rica searching for the perfect gift for the Brent Master. His sacrifice is noted and will be rewarded as I continue my search. I have asked several individuals here what they think would make the perfect gift. I have had various respones such as an ox cart, a flying monkey (maybe this would be a good one for jenn), 10 colones (their money here, but 10 is worth less than one cent so this one is lame), a picture of Juan Valdez drinking Costa Rican coffee, or a bird of paradise (flower). Well, I am not satisfied with the results so far, so the search continues. We will celebrate our anniversary upon my return and party like it´s 1999!
Camille, Mistress of All Things Comma,
¡Saludos, felicitaciones, y celebraciones!
Do I get a prize for remembering the time BEFORE Back in the Day?
as for the perfect gift for the Master, I would suggest THIS: http://www.costaricasouvenirs.com/index.php?action=item&id=7&prevaction=category&previd=7&prevstart=0
Hope to see you two again someday, if you ever tire of being Confederates and returning to the Left Coast.
Love, peace, and hair grease,
Dale
BTW, Master of All Things Comma,
I hope your offspring are not aware of their Ominous title; that could be bad.
;)
Wow, eighteen years! Congratualtions to you and Camille.
Wow, you are more of a genius than I thought. You need to share your marital wisdom with all things male. They need all the help they can get!
Thank you everyone for your outpouring of response. I am a little short on time for my usual wisecrackery, but I am very honored and touched by well-wishes of all.
Thank you very much.
